What Hutch is
Hutch is a shared home organizer for a household of two. This page says what data it handles, where, and why, in plain terms. The operator is the maker of Hutch, reachable at hello@usehutch.app.
What we collect
- Your email address, to sign you in. Sign-in is by one-time code; there are no passwords. Identity is handled by Clerk on our behalf.
- What you put in: shopping items, meals and recipes, events, chores, bills, expenses, envelopes, and the original text you typed or forwarded. All of it belongs to your household and is visible to both members.
- Receipt photos, only while they are being read. The photo is sent for reading and discarded; what we keep is the total and line items you confirm.
- A push token for your device, if you allow notifications, so the morning digest can reach you.
- Crash reports (Sentry) with technical details of what went wrong. They do not include what you typed.
Where it is processed
- Storage: a Postgres database hosted by Neon in the EU (Frankfurt). Our API runs on Vercel.
- Reading what you typed: text you capture and receipt photos are sent to an AI model through OpenRouter — currently models from Anthropic (text) and Google (receipts) — to turn them into structured items. These requests are not used to train models under the providers' API terms, and we do not retain the raw request beyond the answer.
- Sign-in: Clerk. Notifications: Expo's push service. Errors: Sentry.
What we do not do
- We do not connect to your bank. Envelopes and expenses are what you tell us.
- We do not sell or share your data with advertisers. There are no ads and no trackers on the site or in the app.
- We do not read your email. Only what you forward to your household's capture address reaches us.
Sharing inside the household
Everything in a household is visible to both of its members by design. If you leave a household, what you added stays with it, so the other person's list is not gutted; your name is removed from it.
Deleting your account
Account → Delete account removes you, your identity, and — if you were the last member — the whole household and all its data, immediately. If another member remains, the household stays and your attribution is removed.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion at any time at the address above. Under the GDPR you may also complain to your national data protection authority; in Poland that is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO).
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, the app will say so the next time you open it.
